July 31, 2014

A Westminster couple, suspected in the death of a Westminster man, is being held in a Georgia jail. Warrants were issued for John Murriel Black, Jr, 49 and his wife Christine Davis Black, 46.  They are suspected in the murder of Mrs. Black’s father. Donald Lee Davis, 71, was found dead at 105 Jefferson Drive in Westminster. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis says the autopsy showed Mr. Davis sustained multiple stab injuries. Addis says Davis died as a result of cardiac and pulmonary trauma due to stabbing injuries. Both Mr. & Mrs. Black have been charged with Murder and Possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The Oconee County Sheriff’s issued an alert to surrounding law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspects who were believed to be driving the victim’s minivan. Around 10:30 Wednesday morning, Hart County Georgia Authorities spotted the van. Hart County Authorities apprehended the suspects, and they remain in custody. Investigators with the Oconee Sheriff’s department are working with officials in Hart County to arrange for extradition of the couple back to Oconee County.
