Westminster K-9 succumbs at the age of seven
Clerk-Treasurer Jennifer Adams of Westminster made this announcement at mid-afternoon yesterday: “It is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you that Dexter has passed away. He will be missed.” The owner and handler of the police department’s K-9, Sgt. Isaac Moore, said Dexter died in a Greenville veterinarians facility only days after surgery that attached plates to the seven-year old dog’s fractured hips. Moore says Dexter became paralyzed and reluctant to eat in its final days. A freak July 4 weekend accident injured Dexter when, scared by the sound of fireworks, the dog bolted from his pen at Moore’s home and was hit by a vehicle a short distance away.
