Westminster Man Faces Drug Charges

A Westminster man is facing drug charges following a weekend arrest by the Oconee Sheriff’s department.  According to Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jimmy Watt Deputies noticed two suspicious vehicles parked at the intersection of Highway 59 and Feltman Road in Fair Play.  One of those vehicles left as the deputy approached a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee.  The driver informed the deputy that he was out of gas and leaving, upon which the deputy asked for his license.  The deputy then asked dispatch regarding warrants on the driver, upon which the deputy learned that the subject had a warrant from probation and parole. He was placed under arrest due to the warrant and a subsequent search of the car revealed a baggie containing a powder like substance. The subject, 51 year old Boyd Clarence Abercrombie of 107 Lakeside Drive in Westminster was arrested due to the warrant and also faces charges of possession of methamphetamine – 2nd offense.
