Westminster metering project budget overrun

The first month city administrator in Westminster will make a financial report Tuesday night to the city council.  And, to prepare for that report, Chris Carter walked into the office of the clerk-treasurer for a meeting with the city’s accountant.  Speaking to reporters this morning, Carter also said the water metering part of a conservation and cost-saving program ran over budget and has been temporarily halted.  “We were not able to complete all 3,400 installations.  We stopped around 3,128 because we were over budget on that portion,” he said.  Carter said the city will have to buy some additional meters.
