Westminster negotiations with Chrisley hit snag

The television reality show host who has a Westminster background and is interested in acquiring the Westminster swimming pool wants assurance he’ll be re-imbursed for architect fees in the event he and the city can’t work out a deal.  City administrator Chris Carter last night gave the city council an update on his contacts with Todd Chrisley, who has expressed interest in leasing the pool at a nominal fee and enhancing its offerings.  But Mayor Brian Ramey reacted by clarifying that, at this point, the city is interested only in seeing a conceptual plan from Chrisley and does not want him to incur a large bill from architects.  Carter said he was told that Chrisley, whose “Chrisley Knows Best” show is now based in Nashville, has been in touch with architects in Chicago regarding converting the city pool to an aquatic and swim center and naming it for a member of the Chrisley family.  At last night’s council meeting, there were questions about whether one or both of the parties may be acting in bad faith.  According to Carter, Chrisley said he had received an email from “an elected city official” warning him there are those in city government who are being disingenuous about their true intent.  That prompted Ramey to ask, “Who sent the email?”  None of the six council members said they had sent the email. Councilman Bill Brockington said he is reluctant for the city to continue negotiations with Chrisley, accusing him of acting in bad faith.  Councilwoman Susan Ramey said the email might have been the deed of someone who falsified his or her identity and instead purported to be a council member.
