Westminster policeman resigns

The Westminster police have confirmed the resignation of one of their officers.  This after, the officer’s arrest Sunday on the charge of domestic violence second degree.  Corp. Timothy Hugh Williamson II had worked for the police department for three years.  Chief Dean Awalt says Williamson resigned this morning.  According to the booking report from the Oconee Law Enforcement Center, Williamson was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office released this summary of the arrest:  “Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Arrowood Circle in Seneca during the evening hours of Sunday, July 3rd in reference to a domestic disturbance.  According to the investigation, there was a verbal altercation between Williamson and the victim, who is a member of his household.  That verbal altercation turned physical after the victim shattered Williamson’s cell phone screen in the sink.  Williamson then reportedly assaulted the victim twice and damaged some property in the residence.   Williamson was arrested and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 9:44pm.  He was released from the Detention Center yesterday on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.”
