Westminster residents to get a new voice

A new Westminster city council member is hoping for a groundswell of interest from city and area residents and those who care about Westminster.  Councilwoman Susan Ramey, the city’s new mayor pro-tem, has announced sign-up sheets are available at the City Hall to serve on a variety of committees whose job will be to study city problems and needs and make recommendations to the mayor and city council.  She’s hoping for as many as 12 members on committees for utilities, recreation, green, beautification, community outreach and economic development.  Ramey foresees the citizen utility committee as an opportunity to study the city’s wholesale power deal with PMPA and see what can be done to lower retail costs.  She’s hopeful that the recreation volunteers can evaluate opportunities to re-open the swimming pool and establish a park to skateboard.
