Westminster rezoning turned down

Westminster Planning Commission voted last night to deny a property owner’s request to change nearly one-third of an acre on the Long Creek Highway to a neighborhood commercial zone. The planning commissioners acted after hearing seven members of the public say they would not like to see the 0.29 acre of land changed from single-family residential to neighborhood commercial. David Smith, city administrator, said the planning commission’s vote will now be forward as a recommendation to city council’s June 17 meeting. A second lot owned by David Kane, the applicant, had earlier been recommended by the planning commission for rezoning, but the city council tabled the request.
