WGOG is on the move….on the dial!

“On Monday, August 3, WGOG will no longer be heard on the frequency 96.3.  We are moving on the radio dial.  On August 3 our new home will be 101.7.  In other words, WGOG will become 101.7/WGOG.  With the change, improvements eventually will become apparent.  They include less interference from adjacent stations, an improved signal, and upgraded equipment to ensure full signal strength during icy and other inclement weather.  It will take an adjustment for all of us, but we hope you will lock us in at 101.7 on the FM dial.”  WGOG’s move clears the way for our company’s station in Franklin, North Carolina to change channels and expand coverage in its area.  Georgia-Carolina Radiocasting’s Art Sutton says both WGOG and WRBN in Clayton, Georgia are required to change channels. In recent years the FCC has allowed more and more low power FM repeaters and has granted permission for one on 96.3 to be located on ParisMountain near Greenville.  That would cause interference to WGOG. 101.7 will be a clearer channel, not subject to the repeater interfering from Greenville and no longer battling it out with a 96.3 station near Augusta.  And Sutton says with the same power and antenna height as WGOG presently has, the station should get better range because of the lack of other stations on the 101.7 channel.
