What life was like for the frontiersmen

After the American Revolutionary War, an Oconee County stone blockhouse was used as an outpost for the State Militia. Today that stone house, along with an adjacent historic structure, the Indian trading post, makes up Oconee Station State Historic Site. And this summer there will again be a chance to experience what it might have been like to have been there during that bygone era. A frontier encampment 10 a-m to 3 p-m Saturday, August 2 is planned as appropriate for all ages. An adult must accompany those 12 and under. The park is located off highway 11, covers 210 acres, and offers a fishing pond and a network of trails that access to Oconee State Park and Station Cove Falls, one of the prettiest waterfalls in South Carolina.
