Whitney letter has the mayor thinking

A Seneca attorney counted 323 cigarette butts alongside the walking track of the Shaver Recreation Center. In a letter to the editor of The Journal, Robert Whitney questions whether it’s proper for children engaged in recreation activities to be exposed to second hand smoke. Mayor Dan Alexander today expressed an open mind as to doing something about it. That something could be a stricter enforcement of Shaver’s policy that designates certain areas for smoking or a city law forbidding smoking on the recreation grounds.
