Wilkommen!

An idea for a festival to promote Walhalla tourism took shape in 1978.  Each year since then the city has celebrated Oktoberfest—a celebration that takes place in two parts of the city.  Oktoberfest weekend is here and to realize it all you have to do is drive by Sertoma Field or Main Street.  The chance of rain is minimal, but there is the chance for wind gusts to 30 mph.   It’s going to be cooler, so bring a jacket especially if you are headed to Sertoma Field at night.  The official start to the weekend is a 6 o’clock ceremony this evening at Sertoma Field, preceded by this afternoon’s 1 o’clock luncheon under the tent.  Over three days the Sertoma Field fare will be food, music, arts and crafts, amusement ride, and fireworks.  Downtown merchants and booth operators are getting ready for their part of Oktoberfest on Main Street.  The setup this year is different in the downtown, so the city requests all Main Street drivers to be sure to obey the 30 mile an hour speed limit.
