Will “Hawk” be Oconee’s next industrial plum?

An Indiana company could become Oconee’s next industrial plum.  Richard Blackwell, the county’s director of economic development, holds out high hopes for a project code-named “Project Hawk.” The possibility was described today as an Indiana company that is interested in moving a line of production to Oconee or Mexico, but Blackwell says his office has been able to convince the company to choose Oconee–even though Mexico is known as a country that pays its workers less.  More is expected to become known about this potential for new jobs and an investment in the weeks ahead, including readings at Oconee County Council meetings.
