Wolf at the door is real, Rep. Sandifer says

If the warnings received by South Carolina about the ramifications for a clean power plan required by the federal government come to be, one Oconee state lawmaker fears a crippling of the economy, along with the likelihood of electric power rate increases. For years, consumers have been warned about a 600-page EPA document containing a lot of fine print that the warnings have suggested a wolf at the door. State Representative Bill Sandifer, Seneca Republican, says those warnings are real. Sandifer is part of an effort with other lawmakers to win an appeal for Washington to re-consider. Each state is to be required to shoulder the burden of reducing carbon-dioxide emissions from existing power plants. Sandifer and, as an example rural electric cooperatives, believe that burden is unfairly weighted on a state such as South Carolina.
