Woman in Westminster arrested on cruelty to child charges

The police in Westminster have arrested a 24-year old woman as part of a 10-day investigation of a case of cruelty to children. Arrest affidavits accuse Rebecca Lynn Rogers of Sitton Mill Road, Seneca of cruelty to three children—all younger than 12 years old. The police say they started their investigation March 21 at Butler and Johnson streets where the fire department extinguished a brush fire. The police quoted several people who had gathered at the fire scene as claiming a child had set fires in their neighborhood. That, the police say, led them to their investigation involving the woman with legal custody of the three children. The affidavit warrants allege Rogers failed to provide proper care and attention to the children.
