Woman’s death during cross-country return to Seneca

Word has been received of the death of a woman on a cross-country trip in which she was returning to Seneca to take up residence. Friends and acquaintances say Rachel Blanton died Friday after a fall while riding a horse in the small town of Guffey, Colorado, where she was visiting a friend. According to social media and friends, Blanton was in the process of re-locating to Seneca after having retired in Oregon from a career of teaching nursing. Rachel Blanton was a lover of horses and planned to bring two horses to Seneca to live in retirement on a farm.
