Women In The Golf Club

Moore (left) and Rice (right) are the first female members of the Augusta National Golf Club

After 80 all-male years, Augusta National Golf Club has invited two women to join, and they said ‘yes.’ Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and South Carolina financier Darla Moore will become the first women members, the club announced yesterday. The club’s controversial all-male policy was last challenged in April, when the club declined to invite the new CEO of IBM to join, even though the four previous CEOs had been members. The new CEO of IBM is Ginny Rommetty.
