Write-in votes will decide!

A special election today decides who fills the remaining six-plus months of an unexpired term on the Oconee County Council. But, as voters cast their ballots, they’ll find no remaining ballot candidates for Council Seat Three. The withdrawal of Republican nominee Andy Inabinet Friday means write-in ballots will decide today’s election. Inabinet has cast his support to former Seneca councilman Ernest Riley. Riley and Paul Cain are the two announced write-in hopefuls, although Elections Director Joy Brooks says ballots cast for other District Three residents are permitted. Voting takes place 7 to 7 today at three locations. According to Brooks, a note will be posted alerting voters that Inabinet has pulled out of the race and he is no longer eligible to win.
