Zoning variance allows for fire-damaged home

Westminster will allow the dwelling at 110 Cornelia Avenue to once again be a home. Benjamin Wingert’s house has been unoccupied since a January fire that partially destroyed the house. The variance that he received last night from the city Board of Zoning Appeals will allow him to re-build for occupancy purposes. After a City Hall hearing, the board decided that Wingert meets the criteria for a variance from front setback requirements. The criteria include hardship from the fire and evidence that there will be no substantial detriment to adjacent homeowners or the public. One neighbor said she favored Wingert being allowed to rebuild.
