$500 thousand idea first came from the county

Here is a 101.7/WGOG NEWS correction. During a county committee meeting this week, the Westminster city administrator did not request of Oconee County $500 thousand dollars for a building project, according to Mayor Brian Ramey. The mayor said Chris Carter’s purpose at the meeting of the county council’s building and grounds committee was to secure a written offer from the county. Ramey says the $500 thousand toward the cost of a combination city hall-magistrate office was first mentioned to him by the then county councilman Joel Thrift a couple of years back. Since then the idea has grown on Ramey, but he explained today that putting the offer in writing would allow his city to start to plan for the project, as part of the development of the next city budget.
