A health payment to the county treasury

Oconee County now has money which gives it room to operate for another year. Oconee’s top taxpayer came through last week with a pair of checks to satisfy its annual obligation. Connie Bellotte of the Oconee Treasurer’s Office says the two checks from Duke Energy amount to $27,632,423.15 cents. The total payment reflects Duke’s 2013 tax obligation to cover its Oconee Nuclear Station and other company holdings in the county. And the money, deposited into the treasury, becomes available to meet county government’s bills and obligations.
