A sweep of the streets

The narcotics division of the Seneca police is sweeping city streets today of nearly 60 people, for whom warrants allege violations of the drug laws. Chief John Covington said his officers are targeting 57 people with 102 warrants. The offenses alleged are distribution of meth, cocaine, crack, marijuana, morphine, Xanax, Lortabs, methadone, and Oxycontin. Assisting Seneca officers are members of the Oconee Sheriff’s office, SLED, Westminster police, and Salem police. Chief Covington said, “This operation represents one of the largest illegal drug enforcement efforts carried out by the Seneca Police Department. More charges on more suspects are expected as the operation continues.”
