A Walhalla walk with eyes wide open

At this hour, members of the Destination Oconee Action Committee and others are walking Main Street in downtown Walhalla with their eyes open and ready to take notes on what they notice–good or bad.  Janet Hartman, manager for Destination Oconee, at lunch before the walk urged the participants to not hold back on what they see, with an eye to record observations that Walhalla can benefit from in its downtown revitalization efforts. The group also heard Mayor Danny Edwards give a history of revitalization efforts, which were discussed as many as 15 years ago, but whose momentum did not pick up until the last few years with the start and the finish of the city’s $2 million dollar Streetscape.
