Addis running for a seventh term

Walhalla’s Karl Addis bids this year for a seventh term as coroner of Oconee County.  Addis yesterday made his official announcement that he will file for another four years as a candidate to run in the South Carolina Republican Primary in June.  Addis takes his job seriously.  He’s a registered medico-legal death investigator having obtained the training required by the American Board of Medico-legal Death Investigators, based in Baltimore, Maryland.  When deaths occur Addis’s job begins.  He defines the duties this way:  “As Coroner, it is the responsibility of this office to be notified of all deaths which occur suddenly, as a result of violence or accident, and unattended deaths (individual has no physician) to establish cause and manner of death.  The Coroner shall order forensic exams as required to assist in determining cause of death and to collect any potential evidence; autopsies are conducted by a board certified forensic pathologist.”
