After interruption, 911 service restored!

911 service is operational again in eight South Carolina counties after an interruption this morning in telephone service. Counties affected were Laurens, Clarendon, Fairfield, Georgetown, Horry Lee, McCormick and Williamsburg. During the outage, all counties switched to their secondary systems for emergency calls. The S-C Emergency Management Division recommends every family emergency plan include a back-up means of communications such as NOAA weather radio and locating the nearest public safety office to go to for assistance. Info on developing emergency plans is available at scemd.org or by social medical @SCEMD.
