Airport comes up a winner on Game Day

The Clemson football Tigers lost a last second stunner last weekend.  But off the field Oconee County came up a winner.  The owners of 72 airplanes generated by the Pittsburgh-Clemson game paid $1,550 dollars worth of event fees to land and take off at the Oconee Regional Airport.  This is the first year that the Oconee airport has charged event fees which, according to airport officials, are common at other airports across the country.  Jeff Garrison, airport director, says the fees go to Oconee County government. From six of the seven home football dates this season, event fees have generated nearly $9 thousand dollars, with one home date to go, the game with South Carolina November 26.
