Angler’s delight: freshly-stock park lake

Angler's DelightA specially-equipped fish hauling truck assisted South Carolina DNR workers this morning in stocking the campground lake at Oconee State Park with hundreds of sunfish and more than one thousand bluegill. It makes for a fisherman’s delight, and there were a couple of anglers anxious to cash in on the action. “We’ve worked with the State Park over the years in managing this lake for the campers and the local folks to have good quality fishing. The lake had gotten a little bass-crowded, over-populated with bass –the top predator in the lake—so we’re stocking these bream to kind of overcome that bass-crowded situation,” Rankin told 96.3/WGOG NEWS. The swimming hole is just one of the amenities at one of South Carolina’s esteemed state park which also offers rustic cabins, canoe rentals, and a putt-putt golf rink.
