Armed robbery alleged at home near Seneca

Two men sat down to watch a movie near Seneca.  Their recreation turned into an alleged case of robbery.  The Oconee Sheriff’s Office has announced a 19-year old Seneca man, Jalen Malia Hughes, has been arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime at a home on S. King Street.  A deputy quoted the other man as saying that Hughes asked if he had any marijuana and then pointed a firearm at him and took a wallet and two ounces of marijuana.  A struggle ensued, in which the magazine from the gun wound up on the floor.  According to the deputy, Hughes ran, but was found in a vehicle outside the home. The 19-year old Hughes was released from the Detention Center yesterday after posting bond.  He was given a combined $40,000 surety bond on the two charges.
