Higher than normal rainfall (7.44″) fell in Walhalla during March.  Barbara Wilson, weather watcher, also recorded the following high-and-low temperatures.  Yesterday the thermometer climbed to 81.  Twenty-seven degree readings were recorded on both March 12 and 20.

Inmate death under investigation

The weekend death of an Oconee Detention Center inmate will require an autopsy the first of this week to assist the coroner in determining the cause of death.  Michael Calvin McMahan was a 24-year-old Salem resident.  Around 5:30 Saturday morning deputies responded to reports of a cardiac arrest and found McMahan unresponsive while they were serving breakfast.  Life-saving measures were […]
