Georgia angler takes early lead in bass tourney

Georgia boater Elijah “Buddy” Benson of Dahlonega led Day 1 of the Phoenix All-American bass tourney at Lake Hartwell.  Cool weather greeted the anglers yesterday morning and the bite started out slow, but after the scales were closed 18-year old Benson stood alone atop the leaderboard.  He brought a five-bass limit to the scale weighing 19 pounds, 9 ounces.  Benson […]

Utica house fire

Fire burned a home during the night in Utica.  Fire fighters were called during the midnight hour and stayed on scene on Ames Street four hours.  No injuries reported. Chief Caudill of the Seneca Fire Department says heavy damage occurred and the cause of the fire is undetermined.  Red Cross is assisting the residents.
