Autopsy Results Announced

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis has announced the results of the autopsy conducted on a man found dead Thursday in the Friendship community of Seneca.  Coroner Addis says the results of the autopsy show 40 year old Douglas Chapman died as a result of hypothermia due to inappropriate dress for the climate. Chapman had no other injuries other than minor abrasions and lacerations from being in a wooded area.  Chapman was wearing only jeans and boots when his body was discovered. As hypothermia becomes more severe, an individual may become disoriented and confused and may also develop a sensation of warmth.  Coroner Addis says Chapman most likely died within hours of when he was last seen on Sunday.  His death has been ruled accidental.
