Backpacks to be distributed in elementary schools

Backpacks will be handed out at Oconee’s 10 elementary schools during back to school events.  It’s a collaborative partnership between the school district and Oconee First Steps.  These backpacks are designed for all 4-K and pre-school intervention students.  Each contains two books and a parent information packet. “We are thrilled to be able to provide the backpacks, and so thankful the district will be delivering and distributing them for us”, says Marie M. Dunnam, Executive Director for Oconee County First Steps. According to Ann Douglas, the school district director of early learning., the parent packet will be a big plus in helping parents understand the “Profile of the Ready Kindergartener.” Dunnam and Douglas will be on site for the August 11th Back to School Events at both Walhalla Elementary School and Blue Ridge Elementary in Seneca.
