Barn fire at Crossroads

Fire broke out early last night in a barn inside the service territory of the Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department. Oconee County dispatchers say no one was injured in the fire at Hawk Ridge Drive near the Williams Farm Road. The barn was destroyed, but owner George Chandler says he wants all to know that he’s grateful to all the fire fighters who responded last night.  It turned out to be a difficult fire to reach, according to Chief Ronnie Williams of the fire department.  “It was down a long driveway,” Williams said.
