Burglars allegedly “rushed-in” on their victim

The police in Walhalla have sent a 19-year old man to jail, in their investigation of a May 19 incident in which an apartment resident was attacked and robbed. Capt. Curtis Rogers this afternoon said Thomas Jay Simmons, 19-year old resident of S. Cedar Street, and a 16-year old accomplice “rushed-in” on their victim at Pine Manor apartments and allegedly took the man’s wallet and beat him with a pistol. Simmons has been charged with burglary first degree, assault and battery third degree, and pointing and presenting firearms at a person. The 16-year alleged accomplice, because of his age, is being referred to the juvenile court.
