Bystander intervention urged against domestic violence

Two retired teachers are committed to ending various kinds of domestic-related violence in Oconee County.  And today Celeste Norris and Suzanne Merrell invited Seneca Rotarians and others to get involved.  Norris and Merrell are equipped to train members of the general public to intervene when an incident of domestic violence occurs in their presence.  The two are promoting “One Green Dot at a Time.”  Green Dot sounds like an environmental-friendly transportation program.  But it’s a program that promotes bystanders to intervene against domestic and dating violence, bullying, and child abuse.  There’s a lot of work to be done in Oconee County to reduce domestic violence.  According to Norris, Oconee takes no back seat to anywhere in the country when it comes to the rate of domestic violence.
