Campus police arrest Seneca man

Campus police at Clemson arrested a Seneca man who they say entered a residence hall room and took items from a student’s purse. Richard Clayton Sr. was being held in the city jail charged with burglary first degree, financial transaction card theft, petty larceny, and trespassing after notice. The police believe Clayton followed someone into the locked Manning Hall and entered a student’s room. According to warrants, a wallet with debit and gift cards, a cell phone and keys were taken. The 44-year old Clayton is neither a Clemson student nor a Clemson employee.
