Cancer risk study

Nuclear power plants in Illinois, Connecticut, and Michigan are among the locations to be included for a study of their risk of cancer to surrounding populations. And, depending on what the government finds, will determine whether the study extends to Oconee Nuclear Station and remaining reactors in the country. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff is implementing a National Academy of Sciences committee recommendation to perform the study. To be examined are multiple cancers in populations near the facilities and cancers in children born near the facilities.
