Celebrating Pamela Putnam’s achievement

At the start of last night’s meeting, the Oconee School Board presented Pamela Putnam her high school diploma, for which she qualified under South Carolina Act 155.  The law qualifies students such as Pamela for a diploma who were denied a diploma who attained all credits yet did not graduate based solely on HSAP—High School Assessment Program testing.  Steve Hanvey, assistant superintendent, says the district is very interested in contacting other students who might qualify for their diplomas under Act 155.  The law expires December 31.  So far, of 100 students who’ve contacted the district, 58 have received diplomas.
