Chance for Trump delegates to switch

Donald Trump easily carried both Oconee County and South Carolina during last month’s preference primary.  But might the Republican see some of his support switch during the state convention later this year?  It’s a possibility, according to the answer that Oconee Republican Bob Skipp was given to his question last Saturday in Columbia.  As chairman of the county party, Skipp attended a meeting of the executive committee of the state Republican Party.  Skipp says he was told that South Carolina party rules for the state convention allow for a “contested or open convention.  He says while delegates are required to register their pledge for primary winner Trump, they are free to switch their support after the first round of voting.  “After that they may vote for whomever,” he says.
