Charges made in old mill fire

Pickens County Sheriff’s Office has charged two boys in its investigation of last week’s fire that destroyed the abandoned mill commonly called the Cateechee Mill.  Detectives investigated leads that pointed to two boys who have been charged with intentionally setting the fire.  Investigation determined the fire occurred after paper was lit with a lighter and thrown on the floor.  Ultimately, the grew and spread.  Because of their age, the boys–between 8 and 14–they have been released to their parents pending court action.  According to the Sheriff’s Office, the charges are arson third degree and unlawful entry to an enclosed area.
