Child caregiver pleads guilty

A child care giver in Pendleton has been sent for treatment to the addiction treatment unit of the state Department of Corrections.  The sentence handed down yesterday in the Anderson General Sessions Court remands Travis Devon Jones to be treated for addiction for a period of three years.  Jones pleaded guilty to unlawful neglect in the care of two infant children, one of whom went missing June 6 at 950 Cherry Street in Pendleton.  According to an announcement by the office of the 10th Circuit Solicitor, Jones admitted using drugs while caring for the children.  “Mr. Jones’ drug use led to reckless actions,” said Solicitor Chrissy Adams.  “It is important to note that Jones pled guilty only as it relates to the 3-year old child testing positive for drugs while in his care.  No criminal charges have been filed in reference to the missing child at this time.  I urge anyone with information about the disappearance of Leonna Wright to contact law enforcement immediately.”
