Clemson alumnus to be honored in 9-11 memorial ceremony

Of 2,996 persons killed September 11, 2001, the only Clemson University alumnus killed was a 34-year old who was one of the youngest partners in his company’s history.  James Patrick Wright went to work at Cantor-Fitzgerald global financial services right out of college.  Today, only his name remains etched in bronze on panel N-39 of the 9-11 memorial where the Twin Towers once stood.  His alma mater, Clemson, will commemorate the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks with a public memorial ceremony at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon in Tillman Hall auditorium.  The memorial will honor the victims of 9-11, as well as local first reponders and law enforcement.  There will be a tribute to alumnus White.  His close friends and family established the James P. White Scholarship Endowment in 2002 to provide need-based scholarships to deserving Clemson students.  To date, 42 scholarships have been awarded.
