Clemson’s new Game Day event law

A new ordinance adopted by Clemson City Council regulates game day and and other university event parking.  According to the city’s announcement, the ordinance was crafted in a way that is fair to property owners and entrepreneurs while taking measures to preserve the sanctity of its neighborhoods.  The new law regulates the use of private property for those who charge a fee to park for Clemson football games and city-approved events.  Those city-approved events include the spring scrimmage, Clemson graduations, NCAA inter-collegiate tournaments, playoff or championships in all sports, ACC tournaments, and playoffs.  Those who wish to charge a parking fee or suggest a donation in return for parking must register in advance with the city.  The registration year runs January 1 to December 31.  The City of Clemson will hold  Q-and-A meetings at City Hall Tuesday, August 9 2:30 to 4:30 pm and Friday, August 12 from 10 am to noon.  You can ask questions, register for your business license, and pick up a parking sign at the meetings.
