County Attorney primes the pump!

Some Oconeeans may not like the way their county spends its tax dollars. But Tom Martin, the county attorney, says no one should take issue with how county government accounts for the money that passes thru its coffers. At last night’s meeting, Martin called attention to an award Oconee County received from the Government Finance Officers Association. That organization, Martin said, recognizes the county’s financial dealings as being special. “A lot of people will say a lot of counties get those awards, and that is correct, but if you don’t get that award somebody is likely to be asking why.” Martin also said the county should take pride that four of Oconee’s five municipalities have asked the county to run their municipal elections. That’s a credit, he said, to the Oconee County election office.
