Crews encouraged that fire lines are holding

Fire fighters say there is now a good containment of the Pinnacle Mountain fire and describe it as dwindling within the perimeter.  However, for a second night an infra-red flight was prevented, but a new picture of the heat from the fire should be available tomorrow. Two days of rain have helped. Until the slick terrain and soaked ground dries, crews won’t return to the most active parts of the Pickens County fire.  In the next several days, the plan is to return to the fire’s edge and re-enforce the lines and, where possible, backfire unburned sections.
