Decisions await Oconee County committee

A committee of three Oconeeans which spends state funds to fix the county’s roads will have decisions to make, perhaps, during a meeting next month.  Sam Dickson, chairman of Oconee’s state “C” Fund Committee, says the task in front of him and committee members Tally Grant and Dick Cottingham will be to decide how best to allocate about one million dollars.  Of a total of $50 million to be spread statewide, Oconee’s share will be $1.1 million.  According to Dickson, the committee is requested to allocate the money toward repairing roads on the county’s primary system—such as the major roadways of 28, 59, 123, and 107.  Last year the committee received nearly $5 million.  That money has been parceled out for projects which the committee has forwarded to the DOT to issue contracts.
