Defendant described “cooperative”

The Seneca woman charged with making telephone bomb threats facing charges in two jurisdictions is described as being cooperative with Oconee County investigators. “The investigation has been progressing. She has been cooperative with our investigators and based on her level of cooperation we feel confident that there is no one else who’s going to be involved in any of the bomb threats in Oconee County. And we will have more charges forthcoming today,” said Oconee Sheriff Mike Crenshaw. Yesterday campus police at Clemson added two charges from their jurisdiction, alleging threats by Melissa Ann Griggs were communicated January 30 and February 4 to the Hendrix Student Center. Griggs, 38 years old, remains in Oconee Jail, under the requirements of a $226 thousand surety bond. She has made application to the Oconee Public Defender’s Office, and 96.3/WGOG NEWS learned that Public Defender Wilson Burr was on his way to the jail this morning for his first talk with the defendant.
