Discussions on mayor’s Chauga River cabin

In Westminster, there is movement on the unresolved issue of what happens to a cabin owned by the mayor.  After an executive session last week the city council passed a motion to negotiate with Mayor Brian Ramey to determine a timeline for the use of the cabin and to amortize the cost of moving it.  A year before being elected mayor, Ramey raised the issue with the city council and requested additional access points for 13 property owners whose lands surround the river and city property.  In 2012, Westminster granted conservation easement to the environmental organization Upstate Forever, protecting 132 city acres adjacent to the county’s Chau Ram Park and upstream from the city’s public water intake.  Councilman Bill Brockington authored last week’s motion and when asked yesterday to explain it further, said “It is premature to respond at this time because the Council and Brian are discussing what is to be done with the cabin.”  Ramey has declined comment and referred 101.7/WGOG NEWS to city administrator Chris Carter.
