Drotning defense lawyer files appeal

The attorney for the Oconee man convicted last month of attempting to kill his wife by setting her on fire has filed an appeal in the Common Pleas Court.  Earlier Judge Scott Sprouse denied a motion to re-consider the 50-year sentence handed down to Jacob Drotning.  In his November 2 order, Sprouse wrote:  “After careful consideration of the filing of Defendant and review of the record, the Court is unable to discover any material fact or principle of law that either had been overlooked or disregarded and further found no error of law or fact not appropriately considered.”  The notice of appeal, filed by attorney Lee Cole, does not state grounds for the appeal.
