Drug sweep across Oconee

Mid-to-high-level drug dealers are being targeted in a drug sweep today across Oconee County. Drug agents and deputies started a search early today for 40 suspects, accused of distributing methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, and prescription drugs. Chief Deputy Terry Wilson said, “The illegal drug trade continues to drive crime, from burglaries to violent assaults. Detecting and apprehending these violators remains a vital aspect of our strategy to reduce and solve crimes in Oconee County.” Local police agencies are helping deputies in today’s sweep. Look for the sweep to extend tonight and following days.
